Wakefield & Pontefract Beekeepers Association is a thriving organisation where the beginner and the expert can learn something new. During the summer we have visits to our members bees in their own apiaries, and have practical demonstrations of swarm control, queen breeding and disease control and many other aspects of the craft of beekeeping. It is also a chance to meet up and have a good chat and catch up with everyone and find out how others are managing in this difficult time for bees. We are always happy to welcome new beekeepers and the association hosts a summer beekeeping school at Woolly College where both the experienced and new beekeeper can learn and practice the many new techniques needed in modern beekeeping. We are members of the Yorkshire Beekeepers Association and the British Beekeepers Association. We have an extensive library of old and new publications for members to borrow and a rental scheme for the use of a honey extractor.
