The aim of the association is to offer help and support to our members, promote the craft of Beekeeping to advance and educate the public in the importance of Honeybees to the environment.....

Wakefield & Pontefract Beekeepers Association is a well established thriving organisation where the beginner and the expert can always learn something new. During the summer we have visits to our members own apiaries, and have practical demonstrations of swarm control, queen breeding, disease control and hive hygiene. We host our own association Honey Show at The Emley Show with a novice class, members and open sections. All our members are encouraged to enter their produce not just honey, we also have wax product, mead and cake classes.

Why should I join?

During the winter we have regular talks with guest speakers. We are always happy to welcome new beekeepers and by joining the association you have access to mentors and are automatically a member of the British Beekeepers Association and the Yorkshire Beekeepers Association and will be covered by the BBKA insurance scheme . We also have an extensive library of old and new publications for members to borrow on short term loan and we have a rental scheme for the use of the association honey extractor.
